Following Jesus is a seven-days-a-week thing. And it’s a together thing. We believe that living life closely with other believers is a key aspect of following Jesus.

Community groups—small groups that meet in homes together midweek—are where this all starts to play out. We’d love to get you plugged in! Send us a note and we’ll connect you with a group leader and all the deets.

Four Purposes of Community Groups

Our community groups are the place where our vision and mission really hit the ground and find focus.

1. To Experience Fellowship

The greatest mark of an authentic follower of Christ is obedience to His most repeated command: love one another. Community Groups provide a target to aim our obedience to that command – a specific group of people to love, encourage and build up.

A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.

John 13:34-35

So, being affectionately desirous of you, we were ready to share with you not only the gospel of God but also our own selves, because you had become very dear to us.

1 Thessalonians 2:8

2. To Make Disciples

Our groups regularly pray, study the Scriptures and strategize how to apply the Scriptures and follow Jesus in their individual life situations. That happens in CG meetings and in one-to-one conversations throughout the week.

Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.

Matthew 28:19-20

What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.

Philippians 4:9

3. To Develop Leaders and Form New Groups

We believe that if we faithfully preach the gospel in the language of our time, God will draw people to hear the message and we will experience growth. Jesus said that if we remain in Him we will bear much fruit. As we grow we ave the opportunity to train leaders and form new groups.

Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ. For this purpose I toil, struggling with all his energy that he powerfully works within me.

Colossians 1:28-29

And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.

2 Timothy 2:2

4. To Serve Others Together

A truly Christian community is not inward focused but draws on its love and unity to actively love the world. We do that through group activities and acts of service and through spurring one another on in our individual lives.

In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

Matthew 5:16
