Sermon by Pastor Tom Brown · Oct 05, 2025 · Means of Grace Series

Sunday morning we looked at 1 Peter 2:2,

Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation

This verse calls to mind the transformation that takes place in the first year of human life. The change from a newborn infant to a walking, talking toddler is wild.

The difference between the two stages of development? Milk. Lots of milk all day long, every day.

It’s amazing what a simple, steady diet can do over time.

There’s a wonderful simplicity in this analogy.

With a simple, steady diet of pure spiritual milk (the Word of God), believers can experience a process of development and maturity that is deeply transformative over the years.

It doesn’t have to be spectacular. It’s doesn’t have to be perfect. Just steady.

Every time I open my Bible for a time of devotion with the Lord, I open my life to the gracious supply of God’s living spiritual milk.

To keep it consistent I need three things – a time, a place and a plan to enjoy the presence of the Lord and take in His Word.
