It was a troubling week to save the least.
Sunday we looked to our Lord and King for an answer in Matthew 24:12-14.
Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.
What should Christians do in light of the spread of violence, especially when it targets a brother in Christ? How should we respond to the threat of violence against those who would vocalize Biblical sexual ethics?
We should stand firm.
We must stand firm in love – this is (always) our highest calling as Jesus people.
We must stand firm in the gospel of the kingdom – not yielding to the pressures of cultural or political polarization but centered on the King.
And we must stand firm in the mission of the king – unashamedly and boldly speaking the truth in love.
We have a war to wage, not against flesh and blood, but against the strongholds and arguments set up against the knowledge of God. Our war is for the minds and the souls of our neighbors.
Brothers and sisters, let us stand firm. And let’s do it together.
