There is no good and godly work without opposition.
Nehemiah chapter 4 is one of many illustrations of this reality.
What can we learn from that account about our own good work?
Here’s my takeaway:
When opposition reminds you that you are weak, remember that it may be true but it’s not the point!
The enemies of Jerusalem taunted the skeleton crew of workers with a series of questions to highlight their weakness, but they missed the only question that really mattered – is their God with them?
Nehemiah reminded his workers of this great truth: there is a God who is great and awesome and he is with his people.
Yes, they were weak – but that wasn’t the point. The point is that God Almighty was with them.
When our work is God’s work, our enemies are his enemies! And there is no enemy that can stand against our God.
When you feel weary and ready to give up your service for Christ, remember the Lord who is great and awesome and fight!
