Sunday morning we were joined by Sam McVay from Disciple Nations.
Sam led us through a study of the Lord’s Prayer in Matthew 6:9-13.
Here are a few of the highlights from the sermon:
We need to ask as disciples not only “How do we pray?” but also “Why do we pray?”
We talk to God because God talks to God within the eternal Trinitarian love relationship. And we as image-of-God-bearers are made with this same theological design. We are made to talk with God.
Prayer is arguably THE most human thing we do as creatures made by a Creator Who wants relationship with us.
We pray not because prayer is interesting, but because God the creator of the universe and of our souls is interesting!
The Enemy of our God and souls attacks this area of our humanity with both a worldly-spirit and a religious-spirit.
The Lord’s prayer is more than just words to recite, but a pattern which contains limitless prayers.
Sam mentioned an app designed to united people throughout the state of Kansas in a daily rhythm based on the Lord’s Prayer. You can download that here.
