This week, we were reminded of a powerful truth from Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount:
“You are the salt of the earth.”
In this message we explore how salt was essential in Jesus’ day — it preserved, healed, and created thirst. In the same way, we as believers are called to:
- Stop the rot — standing for righteousness and truth in a decaying world.
- Bring healing — stepping into brokenness with the love and hope of Jesus.
- Create thirst — living lives so filled with Christ that others hunger for the Living Water.
This challenges us to ask ourselves:
Is my life salty?
Am I blending in with the world, or living distinctly for Jesus?
How do we stay salty?
- Submit to Scripture.
- Depend daily on the Holy Spirit.
- Be present and available wherever God has placed us.
Imagine the impact if each of us lived salty lives — homes, workplaces, and neighborhoods changed by the preserving, healing, and thirst-creating power of the Gospel!
As we took communion, we reflected on Jesus — the ultimate salt — who stopped the rot of sin, brought healing to our wounds, and awakens a thirst for eternal life in us.
